Ruark Audio launches MR1 Mk2 Bluetooth loudspeaker

Following on from its MR1 compact standmount, launched in 2013, Ruark Audio has unveiled details of the follow up. The MR1 Mk2 retains all the attributes of the original, but has undergone a cosmetic update following Ruark customer feedback. Though it retains the same compact dimensions (130 x 170 x135mm – wxhxd), its looks have been significantly enhanced with a choice of finishes (Rich Walnut or Soft Grey) available finish, MR1 Mk2 has been designed to look and sound great in multiple applications and locations.

While the 75mm neodymium tweeter and woofer drive units remain the same as the original MR1, enhancements have been made to the crossover and topology of the speaker's linear Class A-B amplifiers (delovering 20W nominal output). The end result, so Ruark claims,  is a speaker system that belies its modest size, with dynamics and precision usually associated with larger and more expensive systems.

apt X Bluetooth is onhand for wireless playback, while additional connections include an optical input and a 3.5mm line-in  and a subwoofer out. For customers that like taking their speakers outside, the MR1 Mk2 has been designed to work with Ruark's recently launched BackPack II power pack, freeing it up from the mains power socket.

The removable ‘Hi-Fi’ style grille of the original MR1 has been replaced by a fixed integrated grille clad in a British-sourced fabric, which was chosen for its contemporary look and acoustic performance. Further improvements have been made to the MR1’s controller, which now has three pin-point LEDs to indicate system status and input.

The MR1 Mk2 is available now through select dealers including John Lewis, Selfridges, Harrods and other quality independent retailers for £329.99. Click here for more information.
