Cambridge Audio updates Minx Air Wireless speakers

Cambridge Audio has unveiled the second-generation of its Minx Air wireless speakers. The Air 100 V2 and Air 200 V2 are claimed to offer an improved, more rhythmic and musical sound, and now come with the addition of Spotify Connect and an update to the design.

The V2 models now feature Cambridge-developed and patented fourth-generation BMR drivers – which are also found in the £1,000 flagship Cambridge Aeromax 6 floorstanding speaker tested in HFC 391 – specially designed to produce a rich, smooth and wide, room-filling sound. They use acoustically dampened, rigid cabinets to eliminate vibration and distortion, while a custom-developed Class-D digital amplifier and a bass port are hidden in the carry handle.

While the original Minx Air speakers (the Minx Air 200 was tested in HFC 374) featured connectivity options including Apple Airplay, aptX Bluetooth and internet Radio, the new models add Spotify Connect so that Spotify Premium users can control their music and playlists directly from the Spotify App. It also allows users to continue to use their phone or tablet for calls or games away from the Minx Air V2 products without interrupting the music. Both Minx Air V2 systems also boast analogue sockets on the back in the shape of 3.5mm aux-in and an RCA input.

The smaller Air 100 V2 uses a pair of 4in, 4th generation BMR drivers and 100W amplification, while the larger cabinet of the Air 200 V2 houses a pair of 2.25in BMR drivers and a 6.5in subwoofer combined with 200W amplification.

Both models are available in a choice of white or black, with a new premium matt finish and are in stores now for £299.95 or £399.95 respectively. You can find out more details about the portable here.
