If you’re a fan or owner of top cassette decks by the likes of Nakamichi, Revox or TEAC, and you just can’t bear to see the format consigned to the charity shop bargain bin of history, why not keep it close to your heart away from the listening room?
These ties, available from www.supermarkethq.com, are a 50/50 mix of cotton and cassette tape. According to the designer, ‘The sound collages recorded onto the tape for this batch of ties are based on looped and layered samples collected on and under the streets of NYC.’ You can listen to the strips of tape if you have a portable cassette player and can unscrew the head from the transport to rub it over the tape. High fidelity it isn’t, but at $120 dollars each, perhaps these ties should be viewed as an investment instead.
Christmas? Got it taped…
