Pro-Ject unveils new turntables

Launched in early 2015, Pro-Ject’s 2 Xperience SB design proved to be very popular (we reviewed the DC version in HFC 397 and gave it five stars). Now comes the 2 Xperience SB S-Shape (above). The £1,299 turntable has the same features as its predecessor, but adds an s-shaped tonearm made from an aluminium alloy with high internal damping properties and a detachable headshell. A wide variety of Pro-Ject and Ortofon headshells are said to be compatible.

Also joining the 2 Xperience fold is the 2 Xperience Acryl, which replaces the Xperience 2 Pack (HFC 345). Featuring the same acoustically inert clear acrylic plinth, it comes with a 9cc Evolution carbon fibre tonearm and Ortofon 2M Silver moving-magnet cartridge. It also has a new motor driven by a purpose-engineered AC generator PCB, and a thick black precision-balanced platter that’s topped with melted vinyl records for extra grip. It is available now for £950. Both turntables are distributed in the UK by Henley Designs.
